Time

It’s interesting how life flows. Out of all the plans I’ve made and timepoints I’ve assigned myself to follow, life seems to have a path of its own with me being a participant and not really in control. Over the years I’ve learned the key to peace is to simply BE STILL, and although I know this, I have to continuously remind myself of this fact when I attempt to take life into my own hands and not leave it in the Hands of Who holds life.

For everything there is a season and a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

I’ve been struggling with time management lately, hence why one of my goals for 2025 is to “stop and smell the roses”, or at least slow down to smell them. It seems like it has been a battle for me to make time, to take time, and to prioritize time. I asked my Heavenly Father why is timeseeming to slip away from me, and He said this is a weapon the enemy uses to try to get people out of alignment with God’s appointed time.

We view time different from God. From our perspective, time moves in a linear motion (straight line), meaning that it moves in one direction from past through the present and into the future. God views time in a circular motion (cycle), meaning there is no beginning, middle or end. There are many examples of this in Scripture, one being the story of the 12 scouts in Numbers chapter 13. As a result of the community receiving the bad report out of fear, Israel have been stuck in a cycle of curses on the 9th ofAv over many generations, when it was appointed to be a time ofblessings. The cycle can indeed be broken once repentance takes place for what happened in Numbers 13. An example of this is when Daniel cried out to God on behalf of the iniquities of his ancestors in Daniel 9:3-19 andreceived insight and understanding instantly concerning the desolation of Jerusalem.

We measure time as chronos, days, clocks, and seasons. God views time as kairos, an appointed time in His purpose. Another way to understand this concept is with a quote by Tim Kight, “Chronos is quantitative – about minutes, and kairos is qualitative – about moments”. God’s appointed time is one to act in the purpose of God as these appointed times fulfil prophesy.

Now it all makes sense why it’s been a struggle with time management. If I stay easily distracted, then I miss divine appointments. These divine appointments are destiny fillers that I am to walk in. I am in a place where I desire to reap all the blessings that have been assigned to me. Despite the many distractions in my life, it’s my responsibility to refocus and realign, especially since He Who holds my life in His hands is omnipresentmoving throughout all time. I take responsibility by growing spiritually. This is accomplished by (1) reading Scripture daily (2) meditating on what I’m reading (3) journaling and (4) praying God’s perfect will.

A life of discipline takes work, and honestly, it’s not easy, it’s a sacrifice. But on the end of discipline, obedience is birthed. Do not let your divine appointments pass you by, declare that every appointed time assigned to you in 2025 will be fulfilled as you are spiritually growing!
