Body Sculpting and Lymphatic Drainage

Lately I’ve been seeing numerous social media posts where people have been rolling wooden tools over their bodies, for instance their abdomen and thighs. I initially thought it strange and never really took the time to find out exactly what they were trying to achieve until I began to research body sculpting. Body sculpting, also known as body contouring, is a non- surgical technique that eliminates fat in targeted areas like the thighs, abdomen, upper arm, love handles, to name a few. This process includes various techniques including lymphatic draining.

What exactly is non-surgical body sculpting? Non-surgical body sculpting is any procedure that aims to reshape and help the body appear leaner. There are some cons to this treatment, which include pain or discomfort, redness, swelling, bruising or nodules to the treatment area. Depending on your target area, the technician suggests the number of treatments (usually between 4-8) needed to give you desired results. You can have as many as 2-3 treatments per week to reach your body goal quicker, though it is recommended to start off with one treatment per week to see how your body responds to the process.

So now does lymphatic draining go hand in hand with body sculpting? Lymphatic massage after body contouring can have many benefits from reducing inflammation to boosting blood circulation.  Once major purpose is to purge your body of the loosened fat cells that had accumulated around your target areas. The lymphatic system involves the movement of lymph (a clear fluid) through the body’s tissues and arteries to clean them, and disposing of the impurities through perspiration, bowel movements, urine and your breath. While the circulatory system has a heart to push blood around the body, the lymph system relies on the body’s movement. Lymphatic drainage massage technique stimulates the lymphatic system and helps it work faster by moving the lymph to the lymph nodes throughout your body. By doing this, it accelerates the process of removing accumulated liquid and their catabolic residues, i.e. fat cells. It directs them to the capillary vessels and then onward until they are eliminated.

There are many techniques that go into body sculpting such as cavitation, radio frequency, red light therapy, Brazilian Lymphatic Massage Drainage, and vacuum therapy. Over the next month we are going to break down the entire process of body sculpting as another non-invasive treatment to improve your quality of life. The beauty of this treatment is that not only does it help you look amazing outwardly, but it equally benefits your internal organs, systems, and structures.
