Immunity Boosters

If you live north of South Florida you are probably feeling the chill of winter knocking at your door as we enter a new season. With winter comes preventive maintenance opportunities with the change in weather to ensure your immune system has what it needs to guard your body from infections. By now, if you have been following Beloved Bellies, I'm sure you are fully aware of the benefits of holistic living and the importance of providing your body what it needs to thrive, so this weeks blog isn't going to focus on the why as much as the how.

Hello Immunity Boosters!

How I keep my immune system boosted throughout the year is pretty consistent. Apart from healthy eating, exercise, prayer and sleep, I take daily what I call Immunity Boosters. This recipe is packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, folate, anti- inflammatory, bacterial and fungal properties, enzymes, and so much more. To make these boosters you need a juicer, silicone mold (that holds at least 2 ounces of liquid), and the following ingredients:

- 1 medium size orange

- 1 lemon

- 4-inch piece of ginger

- 2 3-inch pieces of turmeric

- 1 teaspoon of local bee pollen (add once juice has been dispensed)

Juice the orange, lemon ginger and turmeric. Dispense 2 ounces of juice in each mold well. Add 1 teaspoon of bee pollen per well. Freeze and once solidified store in a sealed container for 2-3 months in freezer. Thaw in 2 ounces of room temperate or warm water (do not let the temperature of the warm water exceed 90deg F). Take one serving daily for immune support or one serving every 4-hours to fight off infections. Note: if taking every 4-hours, decrease the amount of bee pollen from 1 teaspoon per well to 1/2 teaspoon per well. Enjoy!
